Peter
Grundy
Director
Peter
Grundy works within, but not exclusively within, the Electronics Manufacturing
world and assists OEM’s and CEM’s alike. In order to increase efficiency and
help companies become “Lean”, to use a popular buzzword, P G Engineering
solves assembly problems, optimizes a facility’s operations and introduces automation
into non-automated arenas.
It is necessary to
advocate the need for DFM and DFT in order to increase overall efficiency of
manufacture but it is also now vital to balance the needs of Design For The
Environment against DFM and DFT in order to successfully plan a product’s
whole life cycle.
Peter’s
career spans over 30 years and started out in the automotive industry with
Smiths Industries in areas as diverse as IT to die-casting.
He has an extensive background in sales and marketing of capital
equipment including CNC machine tools (KTM), PCB drilling equipment (Excellon
Automation) and component placement equipment (Excellon and Siemens).
He has also enjoyed the role of product manager for DEK Printing Machines
and was responsible for the 265 group programme.
Peter’s
past experiences have given him a wealth and depth of knowledge in surface mount
electronics assembly, line and equipment layouts, operations management and
continuous improvement which he now enjoys sharing with others.
During
his tenure with Siemens as a process/production systems consultant, his
strengths in NPI, enhancement of existing systems with new technologies and
factory planning were put into constant use.
He is also very adept at SMT process troubleshooting.
Peter
is also well known for his expertise in training in SMT and related assembly
processes.
He has published numerous articles and papers and has presented at major
conferences in Asia and Europe.
He is a columnist for Circuits Assembly Magazine’s “Better Manufacturing” column.
Peter is a director of SMART Group, is also active with IEC and Intellect
and has been a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers since
graduating in 1975.
